Guiding Growth: A Q&A with Beacon’s President, Emily Damman

Leadership at Beacon Capital Management is about more than just steering the ship — it’s about setting a vision, empowering a team, and driving meaningful results for the financial advisors we serve. This year, we welcomed Emily Damman as President of Beacon, and her impact has already been fantastic. With a background in compliance, financial services litigation, and strategic leadership, Emily brings a wealth of experience and fresh perspective to our team.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Emily as we navigate an exciting period of growth for Beacon. Her approach to leadership and her commitment to our advisors and clients reflect the values we hold dear: innovation, integrity, and excellence.

In this Q&A, I sat down with Emily to discuss her journey to Beacon, her vision for the future, and the insights that drive her both professionally and personally. I’m thrilled to share this conversation with you, as it’s a testament to the bright future we’re building together.

Q: Can you share your journey from Chief Compliance Officer of Beacon to its President?

A: The transition has been a natural one. As Chief Compliance Officer, I gained a deep understanding of every facet of the business, from trading to marketing to operations and how they all fit together. Compliance is still critically important to me. Advisors are trusting us with their clients’ money, and we take that very seriously. It’s our responsibility to uphold it through sound processes and unwavering integrity.

When I stepped into this leadership role in February 2024, I was able to lean on my background, but from a different lens. It has been a fantastic first year, getting to know our team and advisors in new ways. I’m thrilled to be in this seat, and full of excitement about the future of Beacon.

Q: What is your leadership philosophy, and how do you apply it at Beacon?

Beacon’s team is second to none — I truly believe that. There’s such a depth of knowledge across the organization and our people are committed to doing their best for our advisors and their clients. As a leader, my job is to set them up for success. That means establishing and communicating clear priorities, truly understanding their challenges, celebrating their wins, and providing the resources they need to excel.

Q: What’s a piece of advice you’ve received that has guided you throughout your career?

“Above all, go with integrity.” My father was in the military, and that phrase was instilled in me from a young age. All careers have tough moments when interests conflict, or the path forward isn’t clear. In those times, I’ve found that focusing on the right thing to do usually gets me the answer I need.

Q: What trends in wealth management are you most closely monitoring?

Like everyone else, we are watching the great wealth transfer. It particularly resonates because it isn’t an abstract concept. Everyone is living it in some way — planning for their own futures, working with aging parents, dealing with family dynamics and different approaches.

It provides an enormous opportunity for advisors who are agile and prepared. We have some great resources coming out in 2025 to help advisors adapt and position their businesses for success amid this changing landscape.

Q: What excites you most about leading Beacon at this point in its growth?

Our strategies are resonating right now. Market volatility is on everyone’s mind, and we’re providing solutions that address those concerns head-on. What’s exciting is how accessible and straightforward our approach feels to investors. When people understand the strategies in place to protect and grow their assets, market turbulence becomes far less intimidating. It gives them the clarity and peace of mind they’re looking for.

Q: What are your key priorities or initiatives in your first year as president?

Our advisors are incredible, but they’re also incredibly busy. One of my big priorities this year has been getting more resources in the hands of our advisors so they can develop and grow their business. We’ve done that through a new website with practice management resources and ideas, as well as our Science of Investing blog, which features content ranging from highly academic to clear explanations of core concepts. My hope is that advisors use it to educate their clients or to get a different perspective on a complex topic.

Q: What’s one thing you’d like advisors and their clients to know about Beacon that they might not already?

Keep in touch! Our focus is supporting your business, and we know that collaboration is key. If you’re facing a challenge — whether it’s a Beacon operations question, navigating a complex client account, or planning a business transition — we’re here to help. Have an idea for an article or something you’d like to share? Let us know. We’re your partner every step of the way, and we value hearing from you.
